A Quick Guide To Get To St. John

This question keeps getting asked over and over again — “How do I get to St. John, USVI in the United States?”. There are two ways you can get to St john’s vacation rentals, American Virgin Islands from the United States and Canada: via the sea or via the air.

Below we’ve listed some of the more popular ones below:

Getting To St John From The U.S.

Via Plane:

There are several airlines that offer direct flights between the USVI and mainland USA. These include American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, and JetBlue Airways.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for an indirect flight option, consider flying into San Juan (SJU) in Puerto Rico and then taking a ferry from there to St. John USVI. This option takes longer than flying directly but can be more cost-effective if you’re traveling with luggage or other items.

If you’re driving from the mainland USA to St. John USVI, your options are somewhat limited. You can drive across the Florida Straits through Fort Lauderdale and Miami before crossing over to St Thomas USVI via one of three bridges: Midtown Bridge (Route 30), Henry E Rohlsen Bridge (Route 20), or Francis D Drake Memorial Bridge (Route 10A).

Via Ferry:

The best way to get to St. John from the United States is by ferry. There are two ferries that run between St. Thomas and St. John: The Cruz Bay Ferry, which runs daily and takes about 30 minutes, and the Saints Ferry, which runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and takes about 90 minutes.

Getting To St John From Canada

Via Plane:

The best way to get to St. John, USVI from Canada is by plane. There are two airports in the U.S. Virgin Islands: Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas and Henry Rohlsen International Airport on St. Croix.

It’s important to note that these airports do not have direct flights; you’ll need to connect through another destination first, such as Los Angeles or New York City (JFK and LaGuardia). Once you arrive at your final destination airport, you’ll need to take a taxi or rent a car to drive to your hotel or Airbnb.
