Vietnamese travelers increasingly turn to pickup truck-mounted mini houses for independent road trips. These detachable units provide self-contained living spaces complete with sleeping, cooking, and bathing facilities. The trend offers an alternative to hotels and homestays while maintaining comfort during extended journeys.

Truck campers consist of removable modules placed on pickup truck beds. Installation requires no cutting, welding, or vehicle modifications. Owners detach units easily and store them at home using integrated lifting legs when not in use.

The SunLimo F18 represents a prominent locally designed and manufactured model in Vietnam. Production limits reach about five completed units annually due to extensive customization. Each camper requires approximately three months to build, with exports reaching several countries.

The F18 measures 3,850 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 2,200 mm in height. Dry weight stands at 550 kilograms. Construction uses a one-piece molded composite body with a five-year shell warranty and one-year coverage for other components.

Interior layout includes a foldable double bed measuring 1,650 by 1,750 mm, expandable to 2,000 mm, topped with a five-centimeter-thick foam mattress. A four-seater sofa combines with a dining table, surrounded by storage cabinets and vinyl flooring. Five acrylic windows provide thermal and sound insulation.

The main door features a three-layer high-grade aluminum structure. Access includes a foldable rear ladder and grab handles. A skylight and concealed ceiling-mounted air-conditioning enhance ventilation and climate control.

Electrical systems incorporate a 16kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack and 7,000W inverter. Outlets cover 12V, USB, Type-C, 24V fast-charging, Anderson connector, outdoor, and 220V external options. Solar charging supports via a 24V-45A MPPT controller for 8-10 100W panels.

Water systems feature a 200-liter SUS 304 stainless steel clean water tank and 12V electric pump with level display. Kitchen areas include a stainless-steel sink and two wine compartments. Optional equipment covers a 24V water heater, water filtration for natural sources, and fixed electric toilet in the enclosed bathroom with shower and washbasin.

Pricing varies by variant. The F18 Eco starts at around VND350 million, equivalent to $13,320. The F18 Premium reaches some VND450 million or $17,130. The F18 Luxury begins from VND650 million or $24,740, depending on selected equipment and customizations.

This development caters to travelers prioritizing flexibility and self-sufficiency on Vietnam’s roads. The removable design preserves vehicle utility for daily use. Growing interest underscores demand for equipped mobile accommodations beyond basic tents.
