Royal Caribbean says the slide will stay shut during the investigation. The company confirms the injured guest got immediate care on board. No details on the exact injuries have been released.
The video shows panicked voices yelling, “Stop the slide,” as water spills from the damaged tube. The clip spread fast on social media and drew questions about ride safety at sea. The cruise line has not yet shared a full technical explanation of the break.
The ship’s schedule is unchanged so far. Other areas remain open. The line says safety teams are checking the slide and related parts. It is not clear when the ride will reopen.
This comes after a separate onboard scare in July. A different guest slipped over a pool railing while reaching for sunglasses. Extra safety glass stopped a fall to a lower deck, and no one was hurt. That case did not involve the slide.
Icon of the Seas is the newest and largest ship in the fleet. It features a large waterpark with multiple slides. The company promotes strict safety checks for its rides, but did not say how often this specific slide had been inspected. For now, officials are focused on the damaged section and why it failed mid-run.
Passengers who filmed the scene say crew moved quickly to secure the area. Guests nearby were kept back while staff handled cleanup and repairs. The line says it will share more after the inspection is done.
