Emirates advises passengers holding UAE passports traveling to the United Kingdom to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation before departure. The airline enforces the “no permission, no travel” policy from February 26 aligning with UK Home Office regulations. Visa-exempt nationals face boarding denial without a valid ETA linked to their passport.

The ETA serves as digital pre-approval for short stays up to six months for tourism business or family visits. UAE residents apply online through the official UK government portal submitting passport details a recent photo and eligibility responses. Approval typically processes within minutes though applicants submit at least three working days prior to travel. The authorisation costs £16 valid for two years or until passport expiry permitting multiple entries.

This enforcement completes the UK’s phased rollout of the ETA system for 85 visa-exempt countries including Gulf nations. Carriers conduct automated checks against Home Office records before allowing boarding. Dual nationals with British or Irish citizenship use those passports instead of applying for ETA.

Emirates provides guidance on its website and app to facilitate compliance reducing risks of travel disruption. The measure enhances border security and streamlines processing for eligible visitors. Passengers receive electronic confirmation though retaining records supports verification at departure or arrival.

The change affects UAE outbound travel to the UK during peak periods. Authorities emphasize advance applications to avoid issues at airports. The policy mirrors similar pre-clearance systems implemented globally focusing on efficient secure entry for low-risk travelers. UAE nationals planning UK trips adjust preparations accordingly under the new mandate.
