easyJet has established its 11th UK base at Newcastle Airport. The low-cost carrier added eight Airbus A320 family aircraft and now operates up to 86 weekly flights to 22 leisure destinations. New routes launched on March 24 include Antalya, Corfu, Dalaman, Enfidha, Faro, Lisbon, Malta, Nice, Prague, Reus, Rhodes, Rome, Sharm El Sheikh and Tenerife.
The expansion delivers an 85 percent increase in seat capacity compared with the previous summer season. It provides more than 800,000 seats for the summer period across popular package holiday markets. The base supports 1,200 jobs overall, including 140 direct positions for pilots and cabin crew.
Flights serve travelers from North East England, Southern Scotland, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Core destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Alicante and Rhodes remain prominent alongside the fresh additions. The operation strengthens connectivity for regional leisure demand without altering existing UK network plans.
